The highlight would be the 2x daily safari drives and 4 full days of being immersed in Bluegrass music and jamming goodness with Pete and Joan. The Pete Wernick Bluegrass Jam Safari South Africa is an event for players of all acoustic instruments, music-lovers of all ages, levels, interests, and tastes! Whether you are an experienced player, a beginner, or just an enthusiastic fan, our six day programs offer activities and workshops for you. Qualifications – Only the ability to switch smoothly between G, C, D, and A chords. Intermediate and experienced players are welcome, and will be given given added challenges. So whether you play Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, the Bass*, Fiddle or Dobro, you are welcome! Our environments are non-competitive and are strictly about immersing oneself in the joys of music and our lovely surroundings! The Pete Wernick Bluegrass Jam Safari South Africa promises to be a highly rewarding and unforgettable musical adventure.
* Electric bass/amp provided.
During the workshop sessions, you can expect practical, hands-on instruction providing a first hand musical encounter with Pete Wernick. At a Wernick Method class you’ll learn the ground rules of jamming, how to lead songs and “fake” breaks, find melodies and sing harmonies—all at gentle tempos in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Upon arrival at the Black Rhino Game Lodge we will spend time to tailor-make our workshop sessions, to ensure that every student gets the most out of their experience. All of this personalized and tailored instruction, an al fresco ‘bush performance’ by Pete and Joan Wernick and the added bonus of jamming alongside a Bluegrass music legend in the heart of one of the most beautiful settings in Africa will make this an unforgettable, once in a lifetime music safari experience.
